       About Us

Seven Wonders Club’s mission is to provide a community for travelers who love the excitement, discovery, and joy of exploring our world.  Because we focus on specific destinations, we can offer expertise, superior planning, and great value to this community.  We work only with suppliers who are specialists in the regions or destination they serve, thereby providing the highest level of satisfaction.

We believe every traveler has unique desires and requirements for their vacation experiences and should have a travel planner who will work with them to create that experience and the memories that last forever. By taking the time to know our clients and their requirements, we provide unsurpassed travel consulting services.

So, how did the Seven Wonders Club come to be?

Travelers have been trying to prioritize the ‘not to be missed’ sights to see since personal travel existed. The Seven Wonders of the World was a list of manmade structures popular among ancient Greek sightseers. The list is believed to have been composed around 300-400 BC, arguably the first ‘leisure travel’ guidebook!  I can only imagine what business travel must have meant in those days – “Bye honey.   I’m off to Troy to pick-up Helen.  See you in a few years.”

One day, several of us were discussing which destinations would be the Seven Wonders today, given that only the Great Pyramid of Giza has survived of the original seven.  Not only did we each have different lists, we each had strong opinions about what should or should not be criteria for making the list.

Should they be naturally occurring or man-made?  Should there be an age requirement?  Should they be representative of a great engineering feat or an artistic masterpiece?  Should they positively impact our world?

The one thing we could agree upon was that we wanted to see them all and we each had our own top seven.  So, I thought why only seven?  Why not a top ten or top 20?  I thought 21 seemed like a great number; arbitrary, but great.  So I decided on 21.

Here are my criteria for the 21 choices:

  • No US or Canadian sites.  We should leave our own back yard!
  • Proximity to other travel destinations.  Some sites were selected over others because they were close to other popular destinations.
  • Seven continents.  I wanted to have at least one destination on each continent.
  • My personal favorites.  When all else failed, I selected based on where I like to travel!

The list may change, I am sure it will, as our world changes.  Drop me a line and tell me if you see a glaring omission or if you agree or if you just want to discuss the choices!

Now choose your seven, start your journeys, and have fun!  Can’t wait to see you at a World Wonder soon.

Best,

Terri Glenn
